Phase one of the MBU Spartan athletic facility is complete.
The facility consists of locker and meeting rooms, coaches’ offices, laundry room, equipment room, an athletic training room and of course the state of the art artificial turf football field.
There is also a large press box and, above that, a third floor covered area for both the visitors and Spartan staff to film plays, video and broadcasts for the Spartan Digital Network and other uses.
Phase two, which will include a rod-iron setting around the front entrance and plaza to create a way to keep the public out of the facility until the gates are open for game day, is planned for the near future.
“We will eventually cut a hole through the center of this building (fieldhouse) where there is the arch and that will take everybody out to the 50-yard-line where we will have stands, officials’ locker rooms, concession stands, public rest rooms, and hopefully a track and field,” said Dr. Tom Smith, MBU athletic director.
Throughout the past 52 years of MBU’s existence, growth has been enormous. These facilities enhance the academic and athletic capabilities for present and future MBU students even further for many years to come.
