College students are always looking for new study spots so I took it upon myself to tour coffee shops in the St. Louis area and determine where MBU students can find their focus as well as a good cup of Joe.
Lattes are made from very finely ground espresso beans, which are then placed in a portafilter (pictured). Hot water seeps through the grounds to pull the shots, which become the base of the latte. A conversation about life and faith with Dr. John Han, professor of English and creative writing at Missouri Baptist University and chair of the Humanities Division, whose past struggles make him even more appreciative of his position now.
Mokabe’s Coffeehouse, at 3606 Arsenal St. in South St. Louis, is about so much more than just coffee and snacks. Owner Mo Costello sees her shop as somewhat of a refuge for some, a meeting place for activists, a welcoming place for all.
With the first meet behind the Lady Spartans, the head coach sat down and discussed the current feelings, goals and adversity the team is facing this season.

*The WordPress website has been up since late-fall 2013. We average about 3,000 sessions and about 5,000 pageviews per month.
*Our stories and galleries get as few as 40 or 50 hits, or as many as 8,000 hits.
*We have readers in every state and more than 90 countries around the world. We have several readers in South America, the United Kingdom, India and Australia.
*Most of our readers are in Missouri, followed by Illinois, California and Texas.
*We do not accept advertising as we are a not-for-profit online newsmagazine.
