MBU Students Getting “Grounded” on Friday Nights

A new student-led ministry called Grounded formed this semester, which focuses on how MBU students can root themselves in the love of Christ and share the Gospel with the MBU community. Meeting each Friday night, the ministry challenges students to represent Christ regardless of their situations in life.

Easter Sunday Reminds Us of Blessings in All Situations

As Easter Sunday is upon us, we are able to reflect back on one of the most challenging years in the history of our nation. For some of us, Easter Sunday might be a time of questioning His presence during the difficult challenges of this past year. And our God is certainly big enough to answer all of life’s questions. For others, Easter Sunday is a time of reassurance that an almighty God sent his son to die on the cross for our sins, and rise from the grave to give us all hope for a future. So the question we are asking our journalism students to blog about today is: In this particularly challenging year, what does Easter mean to you? These blogs are Part 2 of a two-part series. Assembling in the traditional church setting has been especially difficult during this past year, and at times completely impossible, but this weekend we are reminded that the body of Christ is not about buildings, it is about Christians recognizing and giving thanks for Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for a fallen world.        Photo by Jack Gienke

Living Life on the Edge, Even During a Pandemic

In the midst of a global pandemic, it is important to have some sort of escape that allows you to get your mind off of things. Rock climbing has become a great way for these students from Missouri Baptist University to get outside and enjoy creation. When they spend time on the rock wall all of the stress from the pandemic goes out the window for a bit. 

Missouri Baptist University alum Wesley Smith, from Quincy, Illinois, makes his way to the toughest part of the climb up a vertical rock wall at West Tyson County Park in Eureka, Missouri. Smith, who is currently enrolled at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, was one of several men from MBU to venture out recently for a day of climbing.        Photo by Patrick Griffey

Service Day Brings Out the Best of MBU Students, Faculty

MBU’s Service Day encourages giving back to others and helping those who are less fortunate or need to be touched with the love of Christ. The MBU community had the opportunity to spread joy to children in hospitals with Sharing Smiles and express their appreciation for those who served in the military with Operation Gratitude, all while having fellowship with each other.

MBU’s Service Day in the Quad was attended by faculty, staff and students alike as they competed in games, enjoyed free Raising Cane’s chicken and iced coffee, all while contributing to Operation Gratitude and Sharing Smiles. Click on the photos in the Gallery to see larger images.
