Meet MBU’s Newest Athletic Trainers

Missouri Baptist University has added four young and talented personalities to the athletic training room in Stephanie Brewer, Austin Wagner, Alisha Frierdich and Drew Potter.

Athletic trainers like Brewer, Drew Potter, Alisha Frierdich and Austin Wagner keep the wheels of the MBU Athletics machine turning as they help team members in all sports stay healthy and stay in the game.

The Damage Done By A Broken Home

As a young child, seeing your parents split up never really hits you until you get older and you realize all the damage it has done to you, but as time goes along you learn to accept that you can’t fix a broken home.

The effects of growing up in a divorced household are eternal. Despite the scars of witnessing her parents’ divorce at 6 years old, junior Alexia Duncan has learned to move forward in accepting that God is ultimately in control, and He is with us through every battle.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes at MBU

On-campus, Christ-centered organizations allow students the opportunity to connect and grow in their faith alongside their peers. MBU’s FCA huddle meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday in the North Hall lobby.

Junior Meredith Linn, history major, and senior Ethan Metzler, physical education major, encourage students to attend FCA for food, fun and fellowship. Linn is a member of the women’s lacrosse team, and Metzler is a kicker for the football game. 

Faith Based on a Firm Foundation

Many people find their faith through life-changing experiences, as the lowest point in their life brings them to ask for God’s grace in a time of need. I, on the other hand, find myself with no dramatic story of my faith, but lean on a constant foundation as I walk through life.

In a society expecting us to hide our demons, we ought to find the courage to own our stories and start viewing vulnerability as a sign of strength, not weakness.
